Italy…Classy & Delicious

Everyone knows a thing or two about what Italy is famous for: pizza, pasta, wine, good looking people, etc., but did you also know that they spend 80% of their lives eating and drinking and the other 20% talking about what they’re going to eat and drink, wear clothes with ridiculous sayings, such as: “Classy & Delicious - No one knows better then GUESS”, celebrate New Year’s Eve by shooting off massive explosives in the piazzas, and wear loads of make-up, even the men? Oh yeah, and really old shit, which at least in Rome, is everywhere you turn.

Rome, well actually Formello, has treated me well on this trip. Little can compare to hanging out with best friends, drinking, eating, and meandering around old cities. Cities where the foundation of many buildings date back to the Etruscan period. This takes “old” to a different level for us Americans. We start tearing things down once they’ve reached the ripe old age of 50. I’ve been to Rome before. I’ve seen the Colosseum, the Forum, and walked amongst the Roman ruins, but for some reason this trip it’s sinking in just how old this stuff really is. Before you come here, read Memoirs of Hadrian or at least watch The Gladiator, a little perspective is good when you’re walking amongst shit that was here before JEsus.

Anyways, a small part of me wishes I could stay here lounging about eating pizzas, carbonaras, fiore di zuccas, and drinking wine, but too much luxury spoils and I need a serious cleanse.

So, tomorrow at 1:30 pm, it is off to Thailand, but first a 5 hour layover in Cairo. No time for camel rides or the Pyramids, but at least I can say I’ve been to Egypt.

Goodbye pasta and wine…Hello rice and fruit juice. My body and mind welcome you. Talk to you all in GMT+7, which is 12 hours ahead of Michigan and 15 hours ahead of P-town. I’ll get a time converter.
